On Wednesday, May 11, 2017, at approximately 1:15 PM, 30 year-old Marc Cook was posted outside his repair van, topped by a flashing yellow light, on the right shoulder of westbound I-70 near the Rural Street Exit. While assisting a broken-down pick-up truck, 30-year-old Dangelo Dixson struck Cook’s repair van with his Ford Expedition, pinning Cook between his van and the broken-down pick-up.
When authorities arrived to the scene, they saw Cook lying on the ground and pronounced him dead at the scene. Dixson was not injured, and was operating his vehicle on a suspended license. Troopers suspect Dixson of having alcohol in his system and transported him to Eskenazi Hospital for a mandatory blood test to determine his intoxication level. Dixson will be arrested after being dismissed from the hospital.
