(Noblesville, Indiana) – After a two-day trial in Hamilton Superior Court, Massillamany Jeter & Carson LLP achieved a favorable result on behalf of its client, in an estate litigation involving a dispute over transfers of property made by a man shortly prior to his death. The man’s estate brought the action to overturn the deathbed transfers made to his neighbors just days prior to his death. The case largely revolved around mental capacity and the impact of prescription drugs.
At the conclusion of the trial, the man’s estate asked the jury to return the property to the estate. In closing argument, firm managing partner Chris Jeter argued that the transfers of property were invalid because they had been obtained through improper actions, and without the man having been of sound mind. After deliberating for only an hour, the jury returned a verdict in favor of the estate. The trial team consisted of partner Chris Jeter and associate LaToya Highsaw.
